Dr. Riico Dotson is a California doctor who has worked in many areas of sports medicine in his career, including work with professional hockey, football and basketball players. His latest role is working with rodeo athletes as a member of the Justin Sports Medicine Team in Red Bluff, California.

He's responsible for caring for cowboys and cowgirls that are injured int eh rodeo arena, and sees 10 patients on average at each rodeo. Some are seriously hurt but others stop by to have stitches removed from previous accidents. Bull riding is the rodeo event that has the highest injury rate at nearly 50%, followed by bareback riding with a 23% injury rate. The most common injuries are concussions, shoulder dislocation, ankle, wrist and knee injuries according to Dotson. He enjoys education youth that are coming up through the ranks so that he can help raise awareness of injury prevention early on.
